Jessica Santotome: HIRED
Jessica is another of our nannies who gets rave reviews. Two of her
past employers describe her as a person who loves children and both are
willing to accept phone calls from Canadian families.
Her first position as a nanny was with Najeb Siddougi and his family in
the United Arab Emirates. Najeb says his wife was ill when
Jessica started working with them.
"The youngest (of four children) had just been
born and Jessica quickly jumped into the family routine. She took
over the complete care of the baby and helped with the three older
kids. She still managed to do the other household duties like
cooking and cleaning. Jessica is like my daughter and I would
hire her back in a second."
Najeb says he offered Jessica another contract with a higher salary but
she turned it down to make her way to Hong Kong and eventually Canada.
He says he would be happy to talk at length about Jessica's performance
as a nanny.
Jessica still keeps in touch with Najeb and his family. When we
asked if there was anything he would like to say to Canadian employers
his response was: "Hiring her would be a good idea."
Jessica's next job was with Rosita Echaque in the Philippines.
Rosita says Jessica took excellent care of her infant grandson
and handled him with the utmost care. "I was always amazed at her
patience with the baby. Even when he would cry for hours she was
so soothing and delicate with him. She is wonderful with babies."
Rosita is also willing to accept calls from potential employers in Canada.
Jessica is at home in the kitchen and lists Filipino food, Chinese
food, spaghetti, sushi, fried chicken and fried rice as some of her
specialty dishes. She also enjoys baking cakes.
Jessica does not have any children of her own and she is now ready to
make a permanent move to Canada. She is hoping to find a
long-term position where she can settle in and watch the children grow up.
On her application to Canada's Best Nannies Jessica wrote:
"I want to
work for a family who is loving and kind and with whom I can share my
love and support - especially with the kids. I have been taking
care of babies and children since I was in high school and getting the
chance to do that in Canada would be a dream come true for me."
