Jennifer
Tamayo: HIRED
Jennifer Tamayo is a diminutive, sweet-natured nanny who always seems
to be wearing a smile.
Jennifer majored in Home Economics in university and has been
professionally trained in subjects like nutrition, creative arts, home
management, cooking, baking and sewing. She
enjoys cooking and her specialties are Chinese and Filipino food,
salads and pasta. She can follow any type of recipe.
Jennifer has been with her current employer in Hong Kong for four years
and has looked after the family's two boys since they were newborns.
She laughed when we asked her how to care for babies and it
is
obvious she has the entire routine down pat. From sterilizing
bottles to weaning babies to solids - Jennifer thrives in a busy
household and has an obvious love for children.
We were impressed when we asked how she would manage a child with a
severe food allergy and her immediate, passionate response was she
would read ALL food labels from start to finish.
Before moving to Hong Kong Jennifer worked as a teacher at the Vincenpe
Elementary School in the Philippines. She taught grades one
and
two between August 2002 and August 2003. Subjects included
Math,
English, Tagalog (the local language) and Science & Technology.
We contacted the school to ask about Jennifer's performance.
Noimie Tamayo (a distant relative) helped train Jennifer and
describes her as being a wonderful teacher. "She is great at
teaching. She was obedient and bright. Very
intelligent.
But she left because she wanted to travel to other
countries."
Jennifer says she enjoys teaching and would happily
tutor the children under her care in Canada.
Jennifer also worked as a nanny before she finished her university
training. We interviewed her former employer on March 3, 2008.
Rose Marie Jauier describes Jennifer as the best nanny she
has
ever had. "I was working in an office and she looked after my
baby boy. She was so honest and affectionate. I
have not
been able to find another nanny who compares to her."
Both Noimie and Rose Marie are willing to accept calls from Canadian
employers.
Jennifer says she has always been a home body. Her favourite activities
outside of work are reading educational books and cross-stitching.
