Maricel Mahilum:
HIRED
Maricel Mahilum is an outgoing, athletic nanny who loves children.
She played on her university's Varsity volleyball team and
now
spends hours playing sports with the children under her care.
Maricel has been working for the same family in Hong Kong for the past
five years. The children were eight and 13 years old when she
started. Maricel wakes up at 6:00 a.m., prepares breakfast and
gets the kids ready for school. She then cleans the house,
does
the laundry, buys groceries and cooks dinner. Her duties also
include looking after an elderly lady.
Maricel's Commerce degree comes in handy when she is tutoring the kids
in Math. When they finish their homework she takes them
outside
to play volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
Before moving to Hong Kong Maricel worked as a nanny in the
Philippines. She was employed by Michael Yun for two years.
We
called Michael on April 2, 2008 to ask about Maricel's personality and
performance while she looked after his three children.
Quote from
Michael Yun:
"Maricel is a natural mother. She doesn't have any kids of
her
own yet but she is interested in children and so loving toward them.
She comes from a big family and has lots of sisters so she is
used to being around small kids. She always played sports and games
with them and kept them busy. We trusted her completely and I
even had her help me out at my travel agency."
Michael's children were ages three, four and six when Maricel started
working for him. He also praises her tutoring abilities and
cooking skills.
Maricel lists Fried chicken, roasted chicken or lamb, steamed fish,
fried noodles and sweet & sour dishes as being among her
favourite
recipes. She also bakes homemade blueberry muffins.
Maricel does not have any children of her own and likes to
play
volleyball and read in her spare time. She describes herself
as
outgoing and says she is happiest when she is around kids.
She is willing to work anywhere in Canada.
